TextGrabber scan and translate App Reviews

Great app and I got it free. You can not get better then that.

Ive used it twice now. Once on a photocopy from a book and once on a store receipt so that I could put itemized costs into my money records. It worked great. Tips: the photocopy from a book had a bit of a bookmarker with writing on it visible on the photocopy. When I left that in the text grabber didnt work, it gave me gobbledygook. But when I tried it again and using The apps cropper to crop that out it was fine. With the receipt I cropped out absolutely everything that wasnt the items or the numbers. With both of them when it was done I pressed copy within the app, went to a word processing app and pasted it onto a fresh page. Then there were some things that had to be fixed. Like the store receipt had all the names of the items bought and then below that were the prices in a separate block of text. And I took out some of the bits like the letters "GP" for each line in the receipt. It also did "UMIPS" for "CHIPS" because the top was cut off a bit. In both of these I had good light on the text I was grabbing. The store receipt took a few tries for it to come in in focus. But like I say, its like magic! Especially good if you have a physical problem with typing.

Last update has refused to run, delete or reinstall. Icon remains greyed out either on a waiting state or with the app name on it.

I use TextGrabber a lot to get hard-copy documents into Evernote, sometimes requires a bit of cleanup but much easier than typing in the entire text and beats a PDF/pic in many circumstances. My only wish is that the first line of text became the Evernote note title instead of Untitled...

This is a remarkably fast and accurate OCR reader - perfect!

Very useful app!

This app has lots of potential. If you crop your text carefully, omitting page creases and other extraneous marks, it does an okay job. It could do a terrific job if the developer incorporated even the most rudimentary spell checker as part of the scan. Instead you are presented with ludicrous results like "umbrel%a". Why??? Incorporation of special characters like []%}*{+~# occurs frequently and makes no sense. Fix this and its a 5-star app!

Most of the Japanese text I have tested this app on ends up less than %50 accurate. I am using text with large fonts and good lighting and the latest iPhone. Even with English it will often fail to return any text at all.

It does a good job when it works but it often cant detect even really clear fonts, as so its useless ;( Please improve performance

It is crashing on iOS 10

I am really dissapointed, english and polish failed even when photo is a printed document.

based on earlier review I was expecting low performance, erroneous reading, etc. works great for me. Give it a try and youll like it.

Ive paid for the app 5€ with translation. After update i have to pay additional 3€ for the translation. NEVER!!!
